Extra credit for a Friday eve shoot in NYC (gourmet dinner provided)!  Videographers needed to shoot program for a celebration dinner of a NYC organization in Lower East Side/Chinatown.  7-9pm.  I can meet students at PATH and take you over to the location.  Free five course Chinese dinner!

Filmmaker Job in NYC

Are you interested in environmentalism, horticulture, public education, non-profits, or documentary film? The Horticultural Society of New York (The Hort) is looking for an independent filmmaker to produce a series of video episodes documenting the construction of gardens in three NYC public schools from start to finish (projected garden completion: fall 2012). This project-based job is ideal for a college student seeking course credit or a recent graduate needing a video project to boost their resume.

Independence and initiative is an absolute must—this project will require you to act as a liaison between The Hort and school staff to ensure filming dates are scheduled, permissions are cleared, and everything is in working order. You will be required to both shoot and edit footage, as well as processing files for web usage (Vimeo). Must own video camera and have expertise with editing. Please include a link to your reel/portfolio along with your resume and any other relevant work. • Experience shooting documentary-style work, involvement in education or non-profits is a big plus
• Knowledge of video-editing software (Final Cut Pro)
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are a must. Should be efficient, dependable, flexible, resourceful, and detail-oriented. Should be able to manage time well and work independently.
• Creative and extroverted personality and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.
• Ability to establish priorities, follow-though and meet deadlines effectively and efficiently.

Hort Programs include: GreenHouse: A jail-to-street program at Rikers Island using horticulture as a tool to redirect inmates’ lives. GreenTeam: An internship program for people graduating from the GreenHouse program and other at risk young men and women. Apple Seed: Hands-on environmental education for public and private school children. Exhibitions: Art inspired by botany, landscape, and horticulture. Hort Library: A 10,000 volume collection with rare books and the newest publications on urban gardening.
