About Colorlines and the Applied Research Center:

Colorlines is a Web magazine that publishes daily news, analysis and investigative reporting that puts race at the center of the story. We are part of the Applied Research Center (ARC), a 30-year-old, national racial justice organization.

ARC envisions a vibrant world in which people of all races create, share and enjoy resources and relationships equitably, unleashing individual potential, embracing collective responsibility and generating global prosperity. We strive to be a leading values-driven social justice enterprise where the culture and commitment created by our multi-racial and diverse staff supports individual and organizational excellence and sustainability.

ARC’s mission is to build awareness, solutions and leadership for racial justice by generating transformative ideas, information and experiences. We work to advance racial justice through media, research, and leadership development.

Fellowship Description:

Colorlines is seeking a 12-month editorial fellow to lead us in developing and executing innovative community engagements alongside our daily news coverage.

Our community has always included many educators, students and organizers who are eager to share knowledge and solutions. In 2012, ARC’s national conference, Facing Race, drew more than 1,400 thinkers, organizers and culture makers for three days of discussion, training and community building around racial justice. We aim to bring that same energy to Colorlines each week, engaging our community in an ongoing, solutions-focused dialogue about the stories we cover.
