NBC 4 New York is hiring a Summer 2014 communications intern. Work for a fun and dynamic company helping us promote and manage the public image of NBC 4 New York’s station and talent. The position will work closely with the Director of Communications and will gain real-world experience in publicity and entertainment.

   •    Undergraduate junior or senior student in good academic standing
   •    Media, communications and/or English majors preferred
   •    Must commit to 3-5 full days a week (depending on need), beginning on May 19, 2014
   •    Strong communication skills, both oral and written
   •    Excellent computer skills (working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
   •    Must be able to work at a fast pace while managing multiple tasks and maintaining a professional attitude
   •    Superior organizational skills and strong multitasking abilities
   •    Meticulous attention to detail and ability to prioritize effectively
   •    Ability to initiate projects and see them through to completion
   •    Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately

   •    Support administrative needs of the Director of Communications
   •    Write and distribute press releases/media advisories through PR systems including Glide and CisionPoint
   •    Monitor major newspapers, trade publications and online outlets for press clips
   •    Create and maintain reporter press lists for media outreach
   •    Archive all relevant press releases, news clips and breaking news announcements
   •    Maintain station and talent bios and headshots
   •    Monitor weekly viewer e-mails and voicemails
   •    Update NBC New York Communications Twitter handle and Facebook with breaking news announcements and appearances
   •    Draft and proofread communications materials including employee notes, newsletter content, and station competition information
   •    Participate in event planning
   •    Assist Director of Communications in various media partnerships and internal initiatives

This is a paid internship. Students must be eligible for school credit.
